LIVING IN SHANGHAI
IN 2016, I WORKED MY ASSETS OFF TO DEVELOP A FEW
I cold emailed a content marketing team, and offered to work for them for free to build their Instagram following for 2-weeks.
They said yes, and I proceeded to more than double their following. I then wrote an article about my how I accomplished this project and presented it to the top 5 companies I wanted to work with.
In short, one was interested.
I had 3-4 interviews in a week.
They liked me.
They hired me.
And told me I had 3-weeks to get to Shanghai, China.
I have since separated from that company, but still live in Shanghai, China. I love this town.
And as a black female with a fro hawk (or blue hair and/or lipstick) living in a place where I stand out like a flamingo trying to blend in with a herd of elephants - I feel as if it's my duty to share my experience with you fine folks about my experiences here.
SOME THINGS YOU MIGHT FIND INTERESTING...
Yes, there are other black people - including strong black communities - here.
There are a LOT of western food restaurants here: Italian, Spanish, Indian, and even a Soul Food restaurant - and more!
No, I do not speak the language - except for about 10 words. But I still get around just fine.
You can follow all my Shanghai adventures on my YouTube channel that I update...well, whenever I get the chance.
